What is an AirTag ?

The AirTag allows you to detect and find your most important objects. If you misplace an object, launch the Locate app to ring your AirTag, locate it on a map, or show the direction to follow to find it. If you're nearby, the Pinpoint Location feature, available on some iPhone models, gives you directions to find what you're looking for.

How does AirTag work?

Your AirTag sends out a secure Bluetooth signal that can be detected by nearby devices in the Find My network. These devices send the location of your AirTag to iCloud — then you can go to the Find My app and see it on a map. The whole process is anonymous and encrypted to protect your privacy. And itʼs efficient, so thereʼs no need to worry about battery life or data usage.

Just like your other Apple devices, AirTag can be put into Lost Mode. Then, when it’s detected by a device in the network, you’ll automatically get a notification. You can also set it so someone can get your contact info by tapping your AirTag with an NFC-capable smartphone — that’s the same technology that lets people pay for things with their phones.

A one-tap setup instantly connects your AirTag with your iPhone or iPad. Enter a name for your AirTag, attach it to the item you want to track, and youʼre good to go. Want AirTag notifications on your Apple Watch, too? No problem.

Are AirTags Waterproof ?

The new Objects tab in the Find My app lets you track the location of your personal objects equipped with an AirTag, or a compatible third-party product, through a powerful, encrypted, anonymous network of millions of Apple devices. Via Bluetooth, a secure technology, devices on the Find My app network detect your lost objects located nearby and show you their approximate location so that you can find them, while respecting your privacy and in complete safety.

If you've lost an object with an AirTag attached, use the Locate app to view its current location, last known location, or the direction in which it is located. If you are nearby, you can also ring your AirTag, thanks to its built-in speaker. AirTag is powered by the encrypted, anonymous Find My network, which has hundreds of millions of Apple devices to help you locate your belongings.

If you find an AirTag or a lost item with an AirTag

    1. Place the top of your NFC-enabled iPhone or smartphone on the white side of the AirTag.
    2. Touch the notification that appears. A website with information about the AirTag, including its serial number, opens.
    3. If the owner has indicated that their AirTag was lost, you may see a message telling you how to contact this person. You can then contact the owner to let them know that you have found their AirTag.
